Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a flame retardant assistant and a flame retardant resin composition, not using an environmentally-unfriendly flame retardant, capable of reducing the proportion of the flame retardant without a loss in flame retardancy, and further, capable of improving on the natural characteristics of resins such as high flexibility and on the efficiency of kneading work. SOLUTION: The flame retardant assistant for a polyolefin resin contains at least one selected from the group consisting of composite metal compounds having Fe2O3, Fe(OH)3, Bi2O3, bismuth oxide carbonate, goethite, and Bi or Fe. The flame retardant resin composition comprises the flame retardant assistant, a polyolefin resin, and at least one flame retardant selected from the group consisting of hydrated metal compounds.
