SADDLE STITCHER AND SADDLE-STITCHED BOOK MANUFACTURED BY THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a saddle-stitched book in which a double-leafed folded section with its extended page width reduced to nearly half of the width of the center page is stitched together as a center page. SOLUTION: In the saddle stitcher in which a plurality of opened sections are successively fed while being gathered and transferred on a gathering chain to which a plurality of V-shaped lugs 11 are fitted so as to face with each other, the shoulder part of the sections is bound together with a needle by a needle binding machine, the section assembly is carried out from the gathering chain by means of tacker projecting blade 17, and is decoratively trimmed with a three-way cutter, a guide plate 18 covering the lower half of the V-shaped lugs 11 in the gathering chain from outside is fitted so as to cover an area including the position having the tacker projecting blade 17. When the tacker projecting blade 17 is projected, the free ends of the extended pages P3, P4in the center page 3 are not caught by the lower ends of the lugs 11 or nuts. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
