SURFACE LIGHT EMITTING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface light emitting device making a plurality of positions evenly emit light. SOLUTION: In this surface light emitting device, making the light of a plurality of semiconductor light emitting devices incident on a light guide plate in which a light emitting surface and a diffusingly reflecting surface are disposed opposedly to each other to emit light from the light emitting surface. The device is characterized in that the light guide plate is provided, between inner and outer light guide parts, with an annular reflecting wall part for reflecting light without transmitting it; and in the reflecting wall part, a non-penetrating cut-out part communicating with the inner or outer light guide part is formed on the diffusely reflecting surface side, and at least one of the semiconductor light emitting device is disposed in the cut-out part. The light emitted from the semiconductor light emitting device in the cut-out part is emitted to only either the inner light guide part or the outer light guide part without being directly emitted to the emitting surface side by permeating the reflecting wall part, and the light impinges on the diffusely reflecting surface and extracted from the light emitting surface.
