METHOD FOR MELTING SOLID METAL SOURCE WITH USE OF CONVERTER, AND SMELTING REDUCTION PROCESS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for melting a solid metal source, which inhibits wear of lining refractory in a converter even when the ratio of the solid metal source is 20% or more in a step of melting an abundance of the solid metal source with the use of a converter, and to provide a smelting reduction process. SOLUTION: The melting method comprises setting the ratio of the solid metal source to 20% or higher; continuously adding 0.9 to 1.8 kg charcoal wood per 1 Nm3of an supplied amount of oxygen in a stage of melting the solid metal source, or adding an amount of 300 to 1,000 kg at a time by separation; and continuously adding 0.2 to 1.0 kg slag-making material per 1 Nm3of an supplied amount of oxygen in a stage of melting the solid metal source, or adding an amount of 300 to 1,000 kg at a time by separation.
