Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direct energizing glass melting deep bottom type furnace and a method of clarifying/supplying a glass for capable efficiently producing a large quantity of a high quality molten glass with high thermal efficiency. SOLUTION: The melting furnace 20 has a bottom 2 and a side wall 4 constructed by piling up fireproof bricks 3 vertically on the periphery of the bottom 2, wherein a height H of the side wall 4 is set to be twice or more an inside diameter D of the bottom 2 . Since the furnace is deep, a thick batch layer, a space where glass is melted at high temperature and a cooling area which is necessary to clarify the molten glass 6 are obtained. As a result, seeds produced when raw materials of the glass are melted and removed and fine seeds descending to the furnace bottom 2 is absorbed in the molten glass 6 by the pressure and the cooling effect at this time.
