IMAGE QUALITY DETECTING DEVICE, IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS, IMAGE QUALITY DETECTING METHOD, COMPUTER PROGRAM, AND RECORDING MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the positional optical reflection characteristic change of the surface of an image carrier from exerting influence on measurement for detecting image quality. SOLUTION: In detecting the image quality formed on an intermediate transfer belt 5 by an optical means, the image quality detecting pattern 200 is formed by superposing a plurality of color images, the image pattern 201 of the color (top color) of a lowermost layer out of a plurality of colors is constituted of a solid image, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th color image patterns 202, 203, and 204 which are not solid images are formed on the upper layer of the solid image pattern 201. By optically measuring the irregular density of the solid pattern 201 and the respective color image patterns 202, 203, and 204 and comparing output at the time of measuring the solid pattern 201 with output at the time of measuring the respective color image patterns 202, 203, and 204 respectively, the image quality is evaluated.
