OPTICAL MODULATING DISPLAY ELEMENT AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical modulating display element with superior reliability which hardly causes cracks against a shock and bending stress even when the substrate of the optical modulating display element is made thin. SOLUTION: The optical modulating display element is constituted having resin 11 for protection stuck on at least a portion of the outer peripheral end surface of the substrate 1. Thus, the outer peripheral end surface of the substrate 1 which is easy to cause the crack is protected with the resin 11 for protection to prevent the substrate from chipping from the end surface when a shock or the like are given, and even when the outer peripheral end surface of the substrate 1 already is chipped before the resin 11 is stuck, the part is united with the resin 11 for protection and reinforced, so cracking which originates from the part is hard to occur even when the shock or the like are given.
