Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element which allows the manufacturing cost to be reduced because of being capable of improving the sensitivity at the time of exposure and has a light shielding layer of which troubles like cracks or peeling occur less probably. SOLUTION: The optical element which has at least a transparent substrate and a resin light shielding layer formed like a pattern on the transparent substrate, is characterised in that a carbon black used in the resin light shielding layer is a layer carbon black, and a primary particle size and a particle size of a primary structure of the carbon black in a dried film formed by a coating liquid for forming the resin light shielding layer are within a range of 10 to 100 nm and a range of 150 to 250 nm respectively, and the DBP absorption value of the carbon black is 92 to 200 ml/100 g.
