Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a denitrification catalyst capable of denitrificating an exhaust gas containing no uncombustible substance and high in the concentration of oxygen without supplying a reducing agent to the exhaust gas from the outside, and to provide a device capable of easily reducing nitrogen oxide in the exhaust gas in a combustion device such as a household fan heater or the like. SOLUTION: A honeycomb-supported catalyst 1 is obtained by a method wherein a platinum compound and magnesium oxide are mixed in a slurry state and, after water is removed from the formed slurry, the mixture of both compounds is fired to form a catalyst component, which is, in turn, mixed with a binder component and a carbon powder to be applied to a honeycomb-shaped base material as a coating liquid. Herein, carbon monoxide being a reducing agent is continuously supplied while the carbon powder is heated at 300-400°C. This combustion device is constituted by arranging the honeycomb supported catalyst 1 thus obtained in the air duct 34 of the combustion device (fan heater) 3 on the slightly downstream side of the exhaust opening 33 from a combustion chamber 32, that is, in a region becoming 300-400°C at the time of operation of the combustion device 3.
