ABSORBENT ARTICLE AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article, such as the disposable diaper etc., that has a pattern which is not destroyed nor distorted and can be seen clearly from the outside and is excellent in absorptive performance and leakage preventing property. SOLUTION: This absorbent article is provided with an external layer sheet, an internal layer sheet, and a plurality of elastic members 23 for forming girth gathers between the external and internal layer sheets. In addition, a design sheet 8 having a pattern 81 is provided between the external and internal layer sheets so that the pattern 81 may be seen from the outside through the external layer sheet. The elastic members 23 have portions which reveal elastic shrinkage characteristics on the outside of both side edges 84 and 85 of the design sheet 8 in the widthwise direction. In addition, the elastic members 23 do not reveal substantially the elastic shrinkage characteristics at portions on the inside of the side edges 84 and 85 in the widthwise direction, because the member 23 is partially pressed and cut at portions near the side edges 84 and 85 on the outside of the edges 84 and 85.
