AUTHENTICATION METHOD USING IDENTIFICATION CODE AND AUTHENTICATION DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively and securely authenticate various pieces of identification information on individual authentication or a commodity name by optically reading and recording data by an image pickup device such as a spread digital camera, decoding it by a server of an information manager, and receiving an authentication result by portable terminal equipment such as a portable telephone set. SOLUTION: An authentication device is provided with a stage for image-picking up an identification code displayed on a medium and taking in image data, a stage for converting image data of the identification code into a signal and transmitting the signal, a stage for decoding authentication data stored in a database by image data, a stage for converting decoded data into the signal and transmitting the signal, and a stage for receiving the decoded authentication result and displaying identification information.
