FLAT DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat display device that has small protrusions of sealing portions provided at peripheral edges, and has a high percentage of an effective dispaly region to the outline dimensions. SOLUTION: Peripheral end surfaces of a front sheet (a first sheet) 16 and a back sheet (a second sheet) 18 are adhered to each other by sealants 54, and sheet metal bands 58 bonded by the sealants 54 has folded portions 64 covering corners between two end surfaces adjacent to each other among four end surfaces of the front sheet and the back sheet, arranged ring-like in shape along the four end surfaces so as to come into close contact with the four end surfaces. Thereby, local convex deformation and flow to the outside by the surface tension of the sealants 54 are preferably prevented compared with the case where the sheet metal bands 58 are not provided. As a result, a PDP (plasma display panel) 10 is obtained in which protrusions on the peripheral end surfaces are made to be small, and the effective display region is prevented from becoming small due to sealing, and the percentage of the effective display region to the outline dimensions can be kept at a large value.
