MAGNETIC STORAGE DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic storage device in which a stable floating posture of a magnetic head is kept unchanged with a high surface recording density of ≥600 Gbits/square inch and a long term sliding resistance characteristic is ensured. SOLUTION: The magnetic storage device comprises a disk-shaped magnetic recording medium of a vertical magnetic recording system recorded with the surface recording density of ≥600 Gbits/square inch, a magnetic head for performing recording and reproducing, a rotating means for relatively moving the magnetic head and the magnetic recording medium, a driving means for radially positioning the magnetic head, and a casing for accommodating them. In the magnetic storage device, the casing is filled with gas having average molecular weight of ≤22 and is sealed. Hereby, the stable floating posture of the magnetic head is kept unchanged to ensure the long term sliding resistance. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
