Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reforming method for an unburned gas generated in forming charcoal, whereby harmful carbon monoxide contained in the unburned gas generated in carbonization of waste wood is greatly decreased. SOLUTION: The reforming method comprises the following steps: a step wherein waste wood 5 charged into a treating tower 1 is carbonized with overheated steam of 400-550°C; a step wherein, when an unburned gas 15 due to carbonization is being generated, waste wood 16 is newly charged on waste wood 5 being carbonized in the treating tower 1, thus forming a region B in a temperature range of 250-400°C in a steam atmosphere in the treating tower 1; and a step wherein, in the region B, carbon monoxide in the unburned gas 15 is chemically converted to generate methane.
