Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carboxylic acid derivative exhibiting potent and selective cathepsin K inhibitory action and also useful for producing a cyclic amide derivative of a potential bone resorption inhibitor useful as a therapeutic agent for bone diseases such as osteoporosis. SOLUTION: The carboxylic acid derivative is represented by general formula (II). In general formula (II), ring A is a 5-7C saturated cyclic alkyl or a 3-6C saturated heterocycle containing a heteroatom, R1is a substituted amide represented by the general formula, and R9is phenyloxy, 2-methylpropyloxy, 3,4-methylenedioxyphenyl, morpholin-4-yl, N-tert-butyloxycarbonylpiperidin-4-yl, a piperazine derivative or a group represented by formula: R11-B.
