Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus using frequency measurement of a vibration retainer in order to improve the precision of a measurement result while avoiding the restriction of a conventional apparatus for measuring small objects. SOLUTION: This apparatus for measuring the mass and calculating the weight of an individual object to be held thereby comprises forceps 14 having a proximal portion 14a and a distal portion 14b, the proximal portion being adapted to grasp and hold a selected object, means associated with the forceps for initiating vibration of the same while the object is held thereby, and means for measuring the oscillating frequency of the forceps while the object is held thereby, and for utilizing the measured higher oscillating frequency of the empty forceps 14 to compute the mass and the weight of the selected object.
