Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a mineral-containing composition usable in new supplements taking advantage of physiological functions expressed owing to specific contents of calcium and magnesium or as a food material effective for preventing lifestyle diseases, and to provide a method for producing the composition. SOLUTION: The mineral-containing composition is provided based on the fact that naturally produced coral fossil or marine organism-derived mineral produced by mineralization as a result of substituting magnesium undersea for calcium in limestone formed from marine organisms varies in calcium/magnesium ratio from (2:1) to (20:1) depending on a natural environment under which it is collected, however, on contacting such a material with a medium such as water, the calcium dissolves more than the magnesium in the medium; therefore the resultant residue becomes higher in magnesium content than the material.
