TAPE LIBRARY DEVICE AND CONTROL METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exchange and use a FC (fiber channel) drive mounted to a library system without re-booting a host computer. SOLUTION: A host computer 31 and a fiber channel switch part 19, the fiber channel switch part 19 and FC drives 32, 33 are connected by fiber channel interfaces provided respectively, for example, an optical fiber. A control part 20 and the FC drives 32, 33 are connected by a RS-232C. Other names WWNN (world wide node name) and WWPN (world wide port name) of the FC drives 32 and 33 are set from the control part 20 through RS-232C. And data reproduced by the FC drives 32, 33 and data supplied to the FC drives 32, 33 are transmitted and received to/from the host computer 31 for example through the optical fiber.
