SIGNAL CONVERTING APPARATUS AND COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical line terminating apparatus of which the constitution is simple and inexpensive. SOLUTION: A signal converting apparatus 120 is provided with an analog photoelectric converting part 202 for converting an analog optical signal for optically carrying analog video data into an analog electric signal, a first digital photoelectric converting part 206 for converting a digital optical signal for optically carrying digital video data and communication data into a digital electric signal, a relay part 210 for respectively distributing the digital video data and the communication data from the digital electric signal, a central arithmetic part 220 for applying predetermined image processing to the digital video data distributed by the relay part 210 to generate a video signal, a television output terminal 250 for outputting the analog video signal to the outside, a video terminal 252 for outputting the video signal to the outside, and an Ethernet(R) terminal 254 for outputting the signal for carrying the communication data outputted from the relay part 210 to the outside.
