ANTIMICROBIAL GLASSWARE, GLASS-LIKE PRODUCT, AND THEIR PRODUCING METHODS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved method for producing an antimicrobial glass substrate or a glass-like substrate and to provide a method for producing the substrate containing a metal ion with a concentration effective for antimicrobial action on at least one selected surface area of substantially colorless, clear substrate. SOLUTION: The method for producing the antimicrobial substrate comprises the following steps: a step for preparing a metal ion precursor containing a supply source for at least a kind of metal ions dissolved or dispersed in a carrier substance and effective in antimicrobial action; a step for depositing the precursor on at least one surface of the substrate; a step for removing a volatile matter from the metal ion precursor by drying the substrate at about 20-105°C; and a step for heating the obtained substrate at about 600-650°C for about 2-5 minutes to subject the antimicrobial metal ions from the precursor to ion exchange or to implant the antimicrobial metal ions into the glass or glass-like substrate.
