COLOR CONVERSION METHOD AND COLOR CONVERSION APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color conversion method for color matching between two kinds of apparatuses whereby a matching image with high accuracy is obtained under observation conditions of a prescribed light source even between the apparatuses with different spectral distribution characteristics and a color matching results with excellent eye-appealing accuracy is obtained even under observation conditions employing a different light source from the prescribed light source. SOLUTION: The color matching method makes a decision by sequentially executing: a first step of respectively deciding CMYK values of a second color output apparatus on the basis of optionally selected K values so that an output color from the second color output apparatus is closest to three-variable color signals Sc on a uniform color space of an output color from a first color output apparatus; and a second step of deciding a combination of optimum CMYK values among combinations of CMYK values on the basis of each K according to a criterion taking into account a spectral distribution Sp of the output color of the first apparatus providing the three-variable color signals Sc.
