Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simplified and inexpensive apparatus and method for monitoring / correcting a wavelength path at a low cost by decreasing the number of optical fiber gratings and optical receivers for monitoring a path without the need of using an expensive FPF. SOLUTION: The apparatus and method for monitoring / correcting a wavelength path comprises: a path monitoring information generating section 10 for generating path monitor information whereby an input port and a switching path of an optical signal can be grasped; a plurality of optical couplers 40 for coupling the path monitor information to the optical signal received via a wavelength demultiplexer 30; a plurality of optical switches 50 for switching the optical signals outputted from the optical couplers; a plurality of wavelength multiplexers 60 for applying wavelength division multiplexing to the optical signals outputted from the optical switches; path monitor information detection sections 70, 80, 90 for extracting the path monitor information from the optical signals outputted from the wavelength multiplexers; and path monitor control sections 130, 140, 150, 160 for comparing the extracted path monitor information with regular switching information to correct a path wherein abnormity takes place.
