SOLUTION: This position detecting terminal T of the present invention has a map storage part 1 for storing map information, a map area assigning means 2 for inputting a display range for the map information, a position detecting means 3 for acquiring own position information, and a display part 4 for displaying the position information and the map information, and is characterized by being provided with a positioning starting part 5 for operating the position detecting means 3 when the display range for the map information is assigned to be narrow compared with a display range indicated by a positioning operation starting level set preliminarily.
