Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dispersion treatment method by which, in dispersion treatment of a liquid containing fine metal oxide particles, the fine metal oxide particles can be efficiently and reliably dispersed while suppressing degeneration of the particles. SOLUTION: In the dispersion treatment method in which a horizontal media milling dispersion machine 1 is used and a liquid containing fine metal oxide particles is circulated in a cylinder 3 along a rotating shaft 4 while rotating stirring mills 5, a dispersion treatment is carried out in such a way that the volume of the cylinder 3 and the flow rate of the liquid to be treated in the cylinder 3 satisfy the expression (1): D/V≤2.5, wherein D represents the volume of the cylinder and V represents the flow rate of the liquid to be treated in the cylinder.
