An idler shaft 35 parallel with the crankshaft 14 is disposed above the crankshaft 14, and the crankshaft 14 is operably coupled to the idler shaft 35. The crankshaft 14 is pivotally supported on the crankcase 14 through metal bearings 45. The crankshaft 23 is operably connected to the idler shaft 35 near the metal bearings 45.
