STORAGE SYSTEM AND ITS DYNAMIC LOAD MANAGEMENT METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a time-out error of a host I/O due to a delay of command processing in a storage system accessing a storage device in compliance with a host I/O request and an internal I/O request. SOLUTION: System load management 46 is carried out in a command processing part 10, and the host I/O request not managed by a storage system is managed in compliance with a system load of the storage system. To the host I/O request above a system load, the host I/O request is not processed, and an error response is made so that a host 3 retries the command. In this way, a delay of command processing inside the system can be reduced. Since the system load is calculated from both the load before access execution and that after access execution, a load of the system itself can be managed accurately. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
