Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a system from being unable to start up even if BIOS update in accordance with CPU stepping change is performed, in a method for managing redundancy of a BIOS for performing environmental setting in which an OS can use hardware. SOLUTION: The BIOS is controlled for its redundancy by a pair of memories 32, 33 and switched to a waiting memory when the BIOS can not boot in order to prevent the system from becoming impossible to start up. In addition, when updating the BIOS in accordance with the CPU stepping change, two BIOS memories are not simultaneously written but only a waiting side is written and a BIOS which is currently in operation is not rewritten. Hence, in a failure of updating, the BIOS currently under operation is used to start up and the system can be prevented from being unable to start up. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
