Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine starter capable of reducing the size of a transmission mechanism in its radial direction. SOLUTION: This engine starter is equipped with the transmission mechanism 54 connected to a crank shaft 24 of an engine 1. The transmission mechanism 54 includes a gear case 20, a first gear 18, a second gear23, a second gear 23, a two-stage gear 19, and a one-way clutch 22. The gear case 20 is rotatably mounted on the engine 1. The first gear 18 is connected to a crank-circle-like transmission body 15, rotatably supported on the gear case 20, and has an external gear on its outer periphery. The second gear 23 is connected to the crank shaft 24, rotatably supported on the gear case 20, disposed in parallel to the first gear 18so that its axial center may meet the first gear 18, and has an external gear on its outer periphery.
