Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder in which ejection of an ink drop or the size thereof can be detected more quickly without touching a sensor to the ink drop. SOLUTION: A first electrode is provided in an ink liquid chamber in the ink of an inkjet recording head, a second electrode is provided oppositely to the first electrode in the ink ejecting direction of the inkjet recording head, and a voltage is applied to the first and second electrodes from a power supply. The first electrode is provided with a terminal for detecting the potential thereof and a capacitor is formed of the first and second electrodes. Ejection of an ink drop or the size thereof is detected by detecting the potential of the first electrode appearing when the quantity of ink in the ink liquid chamber decreases temporarily due to ejection of ink from the inkjet recording head.
