ALTERNATIVE TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM AND METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly convenient alternative transportation system and method. SOLUTION: The alternative transportation system has a first transportation 1 and a second transportation 2 which serves as an alternative transportation for passengers who cannot be transported in a section of the first transportation 1. If an event such as an accident occurs at the first transportation 1, automatic ticket gates 4 installed in a transfer station where the first transportation 1 is changed to the second transportation 2 are set to an alternative transportation mode. When a passenger puts an IC card over the automatic ticket gate 4, alternative transportation information is written to permit the passenger to exit the transfer station. Automatic ticket gates 8 in the transfer station of the second transportation 2 permit each passenger to take the alternative transportation on condition that the alternative transportation information is read from the IC card.
