SAMISEN HAVING SOUND REDUCING FUNCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a samisen (a three-stringed musical instrument) which can reduce sound at a low cost without adversely affecting plectrum handling and interval. SOLUTION: Both surfaces of a body 1 are blocked with plates 2. The outer sides of the plates 2 are covered with an elastic flat material 4. A surface side skin 5 and a backside skin 9 are pasted via the material 4. In this case, it is also good that an iron plate 10 can be arranged on the bottom side of the skin 5 where a bridge 7 is to be arranged. It is also good that the elastic material 4 located at the bottom side of the skin 5 can be formed by a center piece 4a which is spread over in a belt shape along strings 6 from the bridge 7 to a kyoguchi 8 and a flat material 4b which occupies the bottom side portion of the skin 5 other than the piece 4a, and the piece 4a can be formed in a softer state than the material 4b. Moreover, it is also good that a felt layer 12 is formed between the plate 2 and the material 4, cloth 13 is spread over the entire surface of the material 4 and the skin 5 and the skin 9 are stretched across the cloth 13.
