PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the recording quality and to improve the detection precision of a near end. SOLUTION: A recording device has a supporting part for setting a roll R, a moving member disposed adjacently to the supporting part to be freely movable for butting a butting part 35a against a side face of the roll R along with the movement, and a detecting part for detecting the near end of a rolled paper along with the movement of the moving member. In this case, since the butting part 35a is butted against the side face of the roll R, and the near end of the rolled paper is detected along with the movement of the moving member, the moving member is prevented from being butted against a recording face at all times.
