Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wiper device and a wiping method by which excellent wiping performance is displayed under wide rolling conditions from a low speed to a high speed by finding suitable shape conditions of wiper rolls supported with gas bearings. SOLUTION: In wiper devices 5a, 5b for removing liquid on the surface of a strip 1, this device is provided with the wiper rolls 21a, 21b which are formed so that the value d/L of the roll diameter d to the roll length L of the roll is in the range of 0.02≤d/L≤0.05 and gas bearings 22a, 22b with which these wiper rolls 21a, 21b are boren with supplied gas and the wiper rolls 21a, 21b are pressed against the surface of the strip 1.
