SOLUTION: A surface mounting type optical space transmission device 1 has a substrate 2 resin-molded, on which a photodiode chip 3, an integrated circuit chip 4, a light-emitting diode chip 5 are mounted. The photodiode chip 3 and the light-emitting diode chip 5 are mounted on one surface of the substrate 2 while the integrated circuit chip 4 is mounted on the other surface of the substrate 2.
