ON-VEHICLE DEVICE FORMED OF PORTABLE TERMINAL WITH IC TAG FOR ELECTRONIC TOLL COLLECTION SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that the difference between the frequency of 5.8GHz used by roadside radio device and the frequency of radio wave used by a portable terminal is a critical obstacle to the loading of the electronic toll collection on-vehicle device on all vehicles, after intensive study and development to add the function of the electronic toll collection on-vehicle device to the portable terminal regularly carried by most of drivers. SOLUTION: The toll information of the roadside device is received by an IC tag mounted on the portable terminal, avoiding a payment method by the on-vehicle device that is the characteristic of a conventional electronic toll collection on-vehicle device. The information is automatically known and by an integrated program, and converted to information for e-mail so as to be transferable to a mail server exclusive for a communication company on the Internet. According to this, the way for formation of a new system that the communication company collects and pays the toll in a lump to a public corporation can be paved. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
