Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring method for a friction coefficient capable of accurately measuring variation of friction coefficient. SOLUTION: A magnetic substance 3 disposed on the opposite side to a spindle R1 and a roller body R2 is attracted by magnetic force generated by a magnetic force generating means 2 disposed in one of the spindle R1 and the roller body R2 to regulate rotation of the roller body R2 with respect to the spindle R1, the magnetic force generated by the magnetic force generating means 2 is gradually reduced, the magnetic force having been generated by the magnetic force generating means 2 or the magnetic force to be generated by the magnetic force generating means 2 when the roller body R2 starts to rotate is gradually increased, and the magnetic force having been generated by the magnetic force generating means 2 when the roller body R2 stops rotating is measured. Friction coefficient between a guide roller R and a magnetic tape T is measured based on a relation between the previously determined magnetic force to be generated by the magnetic force generating means 2 and the friction coefficient between the roller body R2 and the magnetic tape T.
