Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for screening a prophylactic and therapeutic agent for renal diseases, diabetes and the like. SOLUTION: The method for screening a prophylactic and therapeutic agent is characterized by using (i) a protein having the same or practically the same amino acid sequence as human origin TGF-B Stimulated Clone-22 protein (TSC-22) or a partial peptide thereof; or (ii) a nucleotide encoding the protein or the partial peptide, containing the same or practically the same amino acid sequence as the TSC-22, wherein the agent is applied to diseases such as renal diseases and diabetes, associated with the above-mentioned protein or its salt.
