MAGNETIC HEAD, MAGNETIC TAPE DEVICE INCLUDING THE SAME AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE MAGNETIC HEAD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head which can maintain the S/N ratio of a reproduction signal at a proper value. SOLUTION: The magnetic head 37 in which two sides 61a, 62a and 63a, which are defined as viewed in a core width direction, of end surfaces 61, 62 and 63 of the magnetic recording head extend along a longitudinal direction M of recording tracks 72, so that it is possible to reduce spreading of a leakage magnetic field F2 extending from the two sides of the magnetic recording head in the core width direction. If the leakage magnetic field F2 extending from both sides of a gap layer is reduced, it is possible to prevent the formation of an erased area beyond a multiple recording area 79. It is possible to maintain the S/N ratio of the reproduction signal at a proper value when reading out magnetic information from a magnetic tape 71. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
