Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface treatment method for producing carbon black excellent in jet-blackness. SOLUTION: The surface treatment method comprises a contact step wherein carbon black is brought into contact with a gas containing nitric acid to form nitrogen oxides on the surface of the carbon black to give an acidic carbon black and a desorption step wherein the acidic carbon black is activated to desorb the nitrogen oxides. The desorption step is conducted at a temperature >200°C but ≤400°C, preferably at 220-350°C. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
