SYSTEM FOR pH-NEUTRAL LONG-LIFE PRECAST ELECTROPHORESIS GEL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gel and a buffer system, wherein separation occurs at neutral pH and proteins remain completely reduced. SOLUTION: The system for gel electrophoresis comprises an electrophoresis gel having two ends. That is, one end of the gel is set in contact with an anode buffer solution, and the other end of the gel is set in contact with a cathode buffer solution. The gel buffer solution comprises a monovalent organic amine or a substituted amine with a pK at near neutrality and is titrated with HCl to a pH in between about 6 and about 7. The cathode buffer comprises a solution of a zwitterionic buffer selected from among a group consisting of MOPS, MES, ACES, MOPSO, TES, HEPES, and TAPSO, and is titrated with sodium hydroxide or an organic base to a pH of about 7.
