OPTICAL MODULE AND OPTICAL FIBER GYROSCOPE USING THE OPTICAL MODULE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive optical module for monitoring optical signals and an optical module comprising a polarization selective element and an optical multiplexing and demultiplexing element integrated and to provide an optical fiber gyroscope using the integrated optical module. SOLUTION: The optical module is configured by grinding a part of the side face of a first optical fiber 20 to the proximity of the core 22 to form a first polished face 25, forming a dielectric multilayered membrane filter on the first polished face 25, grinding a part of the side face of a second optical fiber 20 to the proximity of the core 22 to form a second polished face 25, and joining the first polished face 25 and the second polished face 25 via the dielectric multilayered membrane filter formed on the first polished face 25.
