Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide steel for a plastic mold which combines mirror-finishing properties and machinability, and has no occurrence of rusting causing troubles on mold production. SOLUTION: The steel for a plastic mold has a composition comprising, by mass, 0.01 to 0.20% C, ≤2.0% Si, 0.1 to 2.0% Mn, 1.0 to 6.0% Cr and 1.0 to 6.0% Cu, and, if required, further comprising one or two kinds of metals selected from ≤0.05% Al and ≤0.02% N, and in which the content of S is controlled to ≤0.05%, and comprising the balance Fe.
