DUAL STAGE SUSPENSION WITH PZT (PIEZOELECTRIC TRANSDUCER) ACTUATOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance track-positioning resolution in the state of shortening the suspension length of a disk drive. SOLUTION: The suspension 100 is provided with an adapter plate 102 adapted to be to a primary actuator, a functional end 104 adapted to carry a slider 20, and a hinge 106 arranged between the adapter plate 102 and the functional end 104. An attaching structure for attaching the suspension 100 to the primary actuator is disposed on the adapter plate 102. A pair of secondary actuators 126 are attached in overlap relations longitudinally with the attaching structure. Consequently, the influence to be exerted to the suspension length of the secondary actuators 126 is minimized. The secondary actuators 126 are operatively connected to the hinge 106 to give rise to the wobble oscillation of the slider 20. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
