YARN FEEDER IN TEXTILE MACHINERY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detector detecting the presence or absence of a yarn on a yarn storage drum with good accuracy and to provide a method therefor. SOLUTION: There are provided the yarn storage drum (11) for temporarily storing the feed of the yarn to textile machinery, a detecting means (13) for detecting the presence or absence of the yarn on the yarn storage drum and a stopping means (10) for stopping the driving of the yarn storage drum based on detected information from the detecting means (13). The yarn storage drum (11) comprises a reflector (12) built therein in the outer peripheral direction and at least a mounting part of the reflector is transparent. The detecting means (13) is mounted in a position opposite to the reflecting surface of the reflector (12) and has a light-emitting part and a light-receiving part. The stopping means (10) detects the cutoff of light emerging from the light-emitting part with the yarn wound around the yarn storage drum at the light-receiving part to stop the driving of the yarn storage drum.
