PORTABLE TERMINAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal which is made capable of detecting its connection to a communication apparatus with a simple constitution. SOLUTION: The terminal is provided with a memory 15 for storing data and programs, a liquid crystal display (LCD) 16 for displaying the data, etc., a keyboard 17 for executing an input operation, a light emitting diode (LED) 18 for indicating a mode state, and an optical communication circuit 19 for executing an optical communication with an optical communication circuit 29 of a communication apparatus 20, and all of them are made connectable to a central processing unit (CPU) 14. It is further provided with a hall element 11 detecting the electric resistance change due to a magnetic field brought about by a magnet 21 attached to the communication apparatus 20 to interrupt the CPU 14, thereby informing this unit 14 of the connection made with the communication apparatus 20.
