Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a titanium material superior in formability and lubricity, and to provide a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: The titanium material has the surface layer in which the total concentration of nitrogen, oxygen and carbon, is in the range of 1-8 mass% at 0.5 μm deep parts and 0.2 mass% at 5 μm deep parts from the surface. The effective manufacturing method is characterized by annealing a cold-rolled titanium material in a gaseous nitrogen atmosphere of which the oxygen concentration and the dew point are prescribed, at a predetermined temperature. Furthermore, the more effective method is to continuously annealing a coiled material. Thereby, the titanium material acquires a low coefficient of friction, superior lubricity, a high Erichsen value and superior formability. The above manufacturing method simultaneously achieves formation of the surface having the total concentration of nitrogen, oxygen and carbon in the above range, and annealing after cold rolling.
