Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil tempered wire having a hardly peeled oxide film on the surface of the wire, and particularly having superior spring formability, material strength and fatigue resistance, and to provide a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: The oil tempered wire has the oxide film on the surface of a steel wire, wherein at least one part of the oxide film is composed of two layers comprising an inner layer formed on the steel wire and an outer layer laminated on the inner layer. Because of having the two layers of the oxide film, when the wire is formed into a spring, the oxide film can be used for securing lubricity to realize superior spring formability.
