METHOD OF POSITIONING END PART OF COIL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of positioning an end part of a coil, which can detect the placement direction of the coil, and which can uniformly arrange the end part position, without using a contact sensor and without requiring a worker. SOLUTION: The distance to the surface of the coil is continuously measured by the non-contact distance measurement device 2 installed near the coil, while rotating the coil placed on a cradle 1 in a constant direction. Because the profile varies at the end part of the coil, the forward or the backward in the coil placement direction and the end part of the coil are detected on the basis of the profile. In the case of the forward in the coil placement direction, the coil is rotated until the end part of the coil is in a specified position where the coil is stopped.
