SOLUTION: In a system in which a plurality of servers 101, 111, 121, etc. are connected via a network, for storing contents, individual pieces of data constituting the contents are shared and stored with a plurality of servers which should share the contents, directory information 254 indicating the share of the individual pieces of data is stored in a main server 251. If a server breaks away from or joins in the sharing of the contents, the share of the data is changed, and the information 254 stored in the server 251 is updated; and for reproducing the contents with a server, by referring to the information 254 stored in the server 251, the individual pieces of data constituting the contents are acquired from a relevant server and are reproduced.
