Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diesel engine equipped with a hydraulic drive type fuel injection device capable of controlling to switch from a fuel injection pressure mode at a fuel injection start to an injection pressure mode adapted to a driving state of the engine, and suppressing exhaust of NOx, black smoke, and white smoke while maintaining good combustibility. SOLUTION: The hydraulic drive fuel injection device is composed so that an injection starting time of the fuel injection pump is controlled by changing the releasing timing of a by-pass oil passage of a back pressure working on an opening side logic valve by a main electromagnetic valve for controlling opening/closing of the opening side/closing side logic valves which control supplying and discharging of working oil to a pressure intensifier for a plunger of a fuel injection pump. The device is characterized in having two restrictors having different degrees of restriction interposed in the by-pass oil passage from the main electromagnetic valve, and being provided with a sub-electromagnetic valve for switching connection of the two restrictors to an oil tank side.
